| The
'Boss Man's F.A.Q. ( Frequently
Asked Questions
)
The following is a number of questions that we often get asked about album
embossing. If you have a question that is not on this page, please let
us know. We will answer you question as quickly as possible.
Q. What color foil should I use on my album?
A. There is no set rule as to what color you should use. However, most
people will match the album trim color (usually gold or silver). If you
are embossing a baby album you may choose pink or baby blue, but gold also
looks nice on white albums. Tanzanite blue matches the trim on the Creative Memories® tanzanite
albums pretty closely. Blush Pink matches the trim on Creative Memories® Blush albums.
Q. What font size should I use on my album?
A. Again, there is not set rule, but usually the largest font that will
fit, will produce the greatest visual impact. For this reason, we recommend
the 36 point fonts for the album front and vertical lines on
the spine. If you are embossing a smaller album, or if your title is unusually
long, you may need to drop down to the 24 point size.
Embossing in the lower corner, back cover, or horizontally on the spine
is usually done in 24 point. You can use the 36 point for short horizontal
lines on the spine, for example a year (2003).
The 18 point size is usually used for longer horizontal lines on the spine
or on the back cover. If you wish to use 18 point, just remember that it
is not much bigger than typewriter print.
The best way to determine which font size to use, is to go to our preview page. Enter your desired text, font style, and font size. Click the preview button and PRINT the results. Cut the samples out of the printed sample and lay them on your album. Please be aware that the preview sample on your computer screen is not actually size.
Q. I have an album that I bought at Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby,
etc., can you emboss it for me?
A. The embossing process consists
of applying a colored foil to the album using a hot (up to 300°F)
metal die, and pressure. Different albums respond to this process differently,
depending on construction
materials
and quality. Some albums will melt, or the foil may not adhere correctly.
We can not guarantee how an album will respond to the embossing process
if we have not embossed similar albums in the past. If you are going to
get your albums embossed, we strongly suggest that you
invest in high quality albums
such
as Creative
Memories® Albums.
We are most familiar with, and most experienced with embossing Creative Memories® albums. Due to this experience, we can guarantee the embossing on these albums. We do not guarantee the results on any other albums. If you have a different album that you would like to get embossed, please contact us first to let us know what you have, we can usually tell you up front whether or not we can emboss it.
Q. Do I need to send you my whole album for embossing?
A. No. As a matter of fact, we do not want your whole album. Only send the parts that are to be embossed. Do
not send any pages, or photos. The part of the album that is to be embossed,
must lie flat on our machine. This requires that the album be disassembled
in order to be embossed.
Q. How long does it take to get an album embossed?
A. That depends on our work load at any given time. We try to emboss and return albums within 1 week of when we recieve them.
Q. How do I place and order?
A. Print and fill-out a layout
form for each album that you
want to get embossed. Be sure to specify which font and size you want for
each line of embossing. Also be sure to include your phone number and/or
email address so we can contact you if we have any questions about your
order. Print and fill-out an order form.
(You may need to print the price list for
pricing information). Remove the cover(s) and/or spines from your album.
Do not
send
the
entire
album.
